The prostate is
a chestnut shaped gland surrounding the beginning of
the urethra in the male. It varies in size according
to the patient’s age. It is located under the bladder,
in front of the rectum.
Contrary to a generally accepted idea, the
prostate is not directly involved during the sexual act; it
does not intervene in the libido’s mechanisms, or in those
of the erection. The prostate takes part in the ejaculation
mechanism, it secretes the major part of the seminal liquid
which is used as a means of transportation of sperm.
